It eats away, eats away
Revealing a silent flame
Reduced to ash, blown away
By breath, sighing, somber
It wastes away, wastes away
Behold the wilting flower
Called back from whence it came
Return to the ground, under
It fades away, fades away
A man, in black and white
Like the flash, captured
He fades into the light
It slips away, slips away
Countenance of the sun
Darkness comes, [...]

Rain Child

“You’ve been crying, haven’t you?”
“No.”
“It’s been raining.”
“So?”
He let out a sigh.
“The least you could do is look at me when you’re lying to me.”
She said nothing, staring past him.
“Why?”
Silence, again. She pulled her knees up to herself, resting her chin on them as she held herself.
“What happened?”
She buried her face behind her knees, and letting [...]

There is no love lost between strangers who share a bed.

With one hand
She grabs my wrist
From behind
Holding me, back
And with the other
She bids me farewell
With one hand
Outstretched
She keeps me, at
A distance, while
With the other
She beckons me
She sits at my feet
Sketchbbok on her lap
Rendering memories, in ink
Writing Past’s whispers
By the margin, sketching
Dreams on the facing page
scribbling verse, in sonnets
As three, gold, pocket watches
Around their necks, tick [...]

Why Butterfly

This narrow concrete path
Stretches
from here
to nowhere
As far as the eye can see
Flanked by endless, evergreen plains
Horizons before, behind
A solitary butterfly
flutters
And
kisses
the ground
In its place
A flower
blooms
Through the cracks
flies
As it takes off and away.
In Smoke

Embers glow
Beneath the skin
Of one so fair
Yet she is incapable
Of life, without breath
Inhalation, and so
She burns quietly
Becoming wisps of fancy
Before the eyes
Disappearing into air
Contemplating
Life, death, existence
And truths, avoided
With moments, all
Consumed in entirety
Till only the end is left
Between the fingers
And with a sigh
She is gone
Extinguished
An Umbrella Sea

That which heaven sends
This gift bestowed upon us
Droplets of water, liquid fire
That cleanse and refine
Warming hearts of stone
Of peoples, an ocean of faces
Looking to the sky in wonder
In shock, some in apathy
At the healing influence
Falling upon their skin
Yet, we, the melancholic
Disillusioned, choose
Shelter, in ingratitude
Opening over ourselves
Umbrellas filled with tears
Drenching the bodies we cover
With sadness that [...]

A prick of the finger
Turns the red rose white
And thorns and knives are
Dulled in the sharp wit of
A bright smile
Of breath and breeze
A careless mumur
Brings a slight blush
To fair cheeks yet
Gentle color fades
Against dark eyes
A soft, ceaseless flow
Of shimmering black
Catches light and
Captivates
Leaving the beholden
Speechless and still
