Narrow streets and alleyways
And wandering, wandering
Just for wandering’s sake
We walked
Past shop houses
Old churches
Gravestones, and people reduced to
Names, memories
Carved in stone
Drawn to empty plots of land
And abandoned spaces
A playground, falling apart
A boy rides past on his bicycle
Carrying a loaf of bread
Whistling as he went along.
